A collection of ceramic wall tiles that take inspiration from the traditional artisan firing technique ‘Raku’ from Japan. This technique is famous for its masterful look and creates an incredible glaze on ceramic, which varies in tone and texture each time. When applied to tiles, this creates eye-catching uniqueness across any wall space.

The collection features four main colours to choose from; Tradition Blue, Tradition Green, Tradition White and Tradition Silver. Each colour contains 35 different variations that showcase striking designs and complimentary tones throughout.
These ceramic wall tiles are available with either a brick effect, to create the illusion of 6 separate brick tiles in one 400 x 200mm tile, or as one rectangular tile that creates the illusion of two square tiles.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Raku is a traditional Japanese artisan firing technique that produces a distinctive, unpredictable glaze with variations in tone, texture, and surface character every single time. When applied to the Tradition tiles, this means that no two tiles are exactly alike, giving your wall a genuinely individual, handcrafted quality that mass-produced tiles simply cannot replicate.

Absolutely – the tonal and textural variation between individual Tradition tiles is a deliberate and celebrated feature of the Raku-inspired design, not a defect. When installed across a wall, this natural variation creates a rich, layered visual effect that adds real depth and character to the space, much like traditional handmade wall tiles.

The Tradition tiles are ceramic wall tiles, and the glazed finish provides a level of water resistance that makes them well suited to bathroom and kitchen walls. It is always worth ensuring the tile joints are properly grouted and sealed to prevent moisture ingress, particularly in splash-prone areas such as behind a bath or basin.

The 400 x 200mm brick-format dimensions are perfectly proportioned for a classic brick-bond layout, which highlights the elongated shape and allows the glaze variation to flow naturally across the wall. Alternatively, a herringbone or stacked pattern can give a more contemporary twist while still letting the Raku-inspired surface take centre stage.

The glazed ceramic surface of the Tradition tiles is relatively easy to maintain – regular wiping with a damp cloth and a mild, pH-neutral cleaner is usually all that is needed to keep them looking their best. Avoid abrasive scrubbing pads or acidic cleaners, as these can gradually dull or damage the characteristic glaze that makes these tiles so special.
