Yes, Schluter Ditra 25 is specifically designed to be suitable for use over timber subfloors, making it an excellent choice where movement in the substrate is a concern. Its uncoupling action absorbs the differential movement between the timber and your tiles, greatly reducing the risk of cracked grout or lifted tiles over time.
Schluter Ditra 25 works by separating your tile covering from the substrate using its grid structure of square cavities, which uncouples the two layers and prevents tension transferring between them. This is particularly useful where the screed is prone to minor cracking, as the membrane suppresses those cracks from telegraphing through to your tiles and grout joints above.
Yes, Schluter Ditra 25 is a waterproof polyethene membrane, which means it helps protect the substrate beneath your tiles from moisture – making it well suited to wet areas such as bathrooms and kitchens. It is listed under both Bathroom Tiles and Kitchen Tiles categories, and its flexible, easy-to-cut design means it can be fitted neatly around awkward fixtures and fittings commonly found in these rooms.
