Laminate flooring has a photographic layer beneath a hard wear layer, giving it a realistic wood or stone look, while luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) are made from multiple layers of PVC, making them more flexible and fully waterproof. If you have areas prone to moisture – such as kitchens or bathrooms – LVT is generally the safer choice, whereas laminate works brilliantly in living rooms and bedrooms where water exposure is minimal.

Yes, most LVT products in our range are compatible with underfloor heating systems, provided the floor temperature does not exceed 27°C at the surface. We recommend checking the specific product specification on the product page before purchasing, and always allowing your LVT to acclimatise in the room for at least 48 hours before installation.

Laminate flooring is warmer and softer underfoot than ceramic tiles, making it a more comfortable option for living spaces and bedrooms. Ceramic tiles tend to be harder wearing in very wet areas, but laminate and LVT are far easier to cut and install, and minor scratches or damaged planks can typically be replaced individually rather than requiring a full floor overhaul.

Most laminate floors require a foam or acoustic underlay to cushion the boards and reduce noise, and this is often sold separately. Some LVT products come with a pre-attached underlay, so it is worth checking the individual product listing before adding underlay to your basket – buying unnecessary underlay is a common and easily avoided mistake.

Both laminate and LVT are designed with DIY installation in mind, and most products in this range use a click-lock system that does not require adhesive.
