The Berna stone effect replicates the natural veining, tonal depth, and texture of real stone, giving walls a rich, organic appearance without the cost or maintenance demands of natural stone itself. The effect typically features subtle variation across tiles, which adds authenticity and prevents the surface from looking flat or repetitive.
The stone effect aesthetic of the Berna range suits a wide range of spaces, including bathroom feature walls, kitchen splashbacks, and hallway or living room accent walls. Their natural, earthy character works particularly well alongside wooden furniture, brushed metal fittings, and other organic materials.
No – because the Berna tiles are ceramic rather than natural stone, they do not require sealing prior to or after installation. This makes them a much more low-maintenance alternative to genuine stone tiles, while still delivering a very convincing natural appearance.
Choosing a grout colour that complements the stone tones in the Berna tiles – such as a warm grey or sandy beige – will help the finished wall look cohesive and natural. A joint width of around 2-3mm is generally recommended for wall tiles of this type, and using a grout with a mould-resistant formula is advisable in bathrooms and kitchens.
As with any tile that replicates a natural material, slight tonal variation between tiles is an intentional design feature of the Berna range, which helps to recreate the authentic look of real stone. However, Porcelanosa maintains tight quality controls to ensure that tiles within the same production batch are consistent enough to tile seamlessly across a wall surface.
