    Frequently Asked Questions

Pickett tiles have an elongated hexagon shape – sometimes called a picket or tombstone shape – which gives them a distinctive silhouette that sets them apart from the standard rectangular metro tile. They also feature bevelled edges and a glossy finish, which adds a subtle shadow line between tiles and enhances the metro-inspired aesthetic.

Pickett tiles measure 300 x 100mm, so when calculating quantities you should measure your wall area in square metres and use the coverage information on the product listing at stoketiles.co.uk. As with any shaped tile, we recommend adding at least 10-15% extra to your order to account for the additional cuts required around edges, sockets, and corners due to the hexagonal shape.

Pickett tiles are wall tiles and are not designed or rated for floor use. Their glossy finish would create a slip hazard underfoot, so they are best kept to vertical applications such as bathroom walls, shower enclosures, kitchen splashbacks, and feature walls where their distinctive shape can really make an impression.

Pickett tiles are most commonly laid in a vertical stacked arrangement, which is the natural way to display their elongated hexagon shape and lets the bevelled edges create a clean, graphic grid across the wall. For a more dynamic finish, you can rotate alternate tiles or experiment with a horizontal layout – we recommend planning the arrangement on a flat surface before installation to confirm you are happy with the result.

The Pickett collection is available in 6 colour options, all with the same glossy finish and bevelled edge detail. Mixing two complementary colours in a chequerboard or banded pattern can create a striking feature wall, and because the shape and finish are consistent across the range, combining colours is straightforward without any clash in texture or depth.
