FAQs
Swimming pool tile questions
Yes, our swimming pool mosaic tiles are designed specifically for aquatic environments and can be used for the pool interior, waterline band, and the surrounding pool deck or coping area. For the wet surround and deck, make sure you select tiles with an appropriate anti-slip rating to ensure safety underfoot. Check each product listing carefully, as some tiles are rated purely for submerged use while others are suitable for both wet and dry zones.
Tiling a swimming pool requires specialist materials throughout. You will need a pool-grade, waterproof epoxy adhesive and an epoxy grout that can withstand constant immersion, pool chemicals, and temperature fluctuations. Standard cement-based adhesives and grouts are not suitable for submerged applications, as they will deteriorate over time when in permanent contact with chlorinated or treated water.
Absolutely – one of the greatest advantages of mosaic tiles is their ability to create intricate, bespoke designs and visual effects within a pool. Their small format allows for curved surfaces, gradients, and detailed patterns that larger tiles cannot replicate. If you have a specific design in mind, we recommend planning the layout carefully on paper or digitally before ordering, so you can calculate the correct quantities of each colour or design needed.
Our swimming pool mosaic tiles are chosen for their resistance to UV light, chlorine, and other pool treatment chemicals, helping colours stay vibrant over the long term. Glazed and glass mosaic tiles in particular offer excellent colour retention compared to uncoated alternatives. To preserve the finish, maintain your pool’s chemical balance within recommended levels, as excessively high or low pH can gradually affect grout and tile surfaces.
Installing tiles in a swimming pool is a complex task that goes beyond standard domestic tiling, and we strongly recommend engaging a qualified tiler with specific experience in pool installations. The substrate preparation, waterproofing membrane, specialist adhesives, and grout all require precise application to ensure a long-lasting, watertight result. An incorrectly tiled pool can be expensive to remedy, so professional installation is a worthwhile investment.
