Johnson Tiles

Johnson tiles (formerly H&R Johnson Tiles) was founded in Stoke-on-Trent, England by the Johnson family in 1901. They have been designing and making high quality tiles for over 120 years, in the ceramic heartland of Stoke-on-Trent. In 1979, Norcros PLC acquired Johnson Tiles and they have grown to become the UK’s leading manufacturer and importer of wall and floor tiles.

Johnson Tiles demonstrates a commitment of sustainable manufacturing by reducing carbon emissions, cutting energy consumption and recycling materials. In 2020, they eradicated single-use plastics from their products packaging and have more recently become the only UK tile manufacturer to be awarded with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) Certificate.

“Attaining this has been no mean feat, in order to get an EPD we had to take a deep dive into all our raw materials, manufacturing processes, emissions and transport. Data is collated over a 1 year period and is then submitted and verified by an approved independent verifier, before being registered and published. An EPD is produced by conducting a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of the product, so we also explored the construction and end of life processes of tile use.” (Johnsons, 2022).
