Metro Tiles

A little history of Metro tiles

Metro tiles are a timeless classic. Originally created for underground transport stations, you may have seen them in the London underground and New York Subway. They were traditionally a ceramic tile with a white gloss finish but have developed into a far wider collection of colours, formats and finishes, making them a versatile and popular choice for many settings.

Where to use Metro Tiles?

Metro tiles are loaded with versatility and can add style to many rooms of your home. The durability and minimal maintenance make them an ideal bathroom tile. We think they look amazing on the walls in a shower cubicle!

Metro tiles make for a fantastic kitchen tile, whether you are looking to tile a full wall or half, a kitchen splash back or create a feature wall, the wide selection of Metro tiles available will ensure you find the one that will compliment your interior design.

Showcase your creative side

Metro Tiles create beautiful backdrops in multiple designs. Choose from a variety of layouts including; the traditional horizontal brick layout, contemporary basket weave or a stylish herringbone.

Our collection of Metro tiles are available across a palette of soft and vibrant tones, allowing you to choose a colour that will suit your setting. Try combining a mixture of complimentary colours to create a truly bespoke design.

Formats and finishes

When choosing a metro tile you will need to decide whether you would like a matt or gloss finish. If you are drawn to a more shimmery and polished look then we recommend a metro tile with a gloss finish. If you are trying to achieve a more subtle, understated look then a matt finish may be for you. Next up, it’s time to think of the format. Classic metro tiles are available in a 100 x 200mm format. If you are tiling a smaller area, you may wish to install a small metro tile with a 75 x 100mm format. Finally, you need to pick whether you would like a metro tile with a bevelled edge or flat design. Traditionally, the metro tile was designed with a flat, easy to clean design, perfect for kitchens. Bevelled edges were later introduced and create a softer, cosier vibe, ideal for a relaxing bathroom.
